Welcome

A Warm Welcome from the Congregation Beth Shalom Family

Welcome to Congregation Beth Shalom — the spiritual home of nearly 1,000 member families and one of the largest Conservative synagogues in Chicago’s northern suburbs. We are a strong, inclusive, and diverse community that thinks of itself as a large family — a place many lovingly call their “home away from home.”

Our mission is to enrich the lives of our members through evolving expressions of observance, lifelong learning, prayer, justice, and loving-kindness — l’dor v’dor, from generation to generation. We are deeply committed to fostering belonging and meaningful engagement in service to our congregation, the Jewish people, and the State of Israel.

At Congregation Beth Shalom, we blend tradition with modernity to create a Judaism that is enduring yet relevant, intellectually and spiritually enriching, and joyful. We are passionate about Jewish learning for all ages and offer a wide array of classes and programs to inspire curiosity, growth, and connection.

We are a community of communities and invite you to find your place in one or more of our vibrant groups — including our award-winning Sisterhood and Men’s Club, our Religious School and Youth Groups, HAZAK (for those 55+), HUGS (inclusive programs for individuals with special needs and their families), Israel Committee,  PRIDE@CBS, and many others.

We lead inspiring worship services on Shabbat and holidays, and our community comes together to celebrate special moments and comfort one another at difficult times. In addition to our traditional egalitarian services, we offer creative and alternative Shabbat experiences such as Services Under the Sky, Havdalah Under the Stars, Shabbat with a Twist, Ark Adventures, Study Minyan, Camp Shira: Family Shabbat and more.

Our egalitarian values are reflected not only in our ritual life, but in our leadership and across the full spectrum of experiences at Congregation Beth Shalom. We strive to make our congregation a joyful, welcoming, and safe space where every individual can be fully themselves and experience the power of true community and equality.

We hope you will join us — and we look forward to sharing many meaningful moments with you.
