Light Up Your Chanukah

Eight Nights of Chanukah Fun – please register for all programs and indicate how many people in your family will be participating!

1st Candle, Thursday, December 10th – I Love You a LATKE!
6:30 pm  Get your Chanukah aprons out it’s Latkes and Applesauce with Chef Laura Frankel who will be doing a cooking demonstration via Zoom. This program will conclude with a communal candle lighting at 7:30 pm. 

7:00 pm  USY Lounge Night (Grades 9-12) Latke making with Eric & Adam via Zoom.

2nd Candle, Friday, December 11th – Sufganyot & Shabbatakah
11:00 am-12:00 pm  Drive-thru Friday Sufganyot pick-up CBS main entrance circle drive

6:00 pm  Shabbatakah (Congregation Shabbat service) Live Streaming
On-Demand  Young Family Chanukah Shabbat Sing-a-Long with Rabbi Warner, Eric Golberg and Sarah Glieberman on the CBS Young Family web page

3rd Candle, Saturday, December 12th – Havdalakah
5:00 pm  Light your chanukiah, your Havdalah candle, and make your very own Chanukah treat (list will be sent after you register) via Zoom.

4th Candle, Sunday, December 13th – Time to Make the Donuts & Uncover Your Sparks
1:00 pm Fun for the “hole” family with Chef Glenn Simon. “Donut” miss this opportunity to learn how to make sufganyot. You “batter” be there! This cooking demonstration will be via Zoom. You can make the sufganyot along with him (give yourself two hours prior to the start of the demonstration to prepare your dough) or enjoy watching the demonstration and make them at a later date. 7:00 pm  Singer/Songwriter Abbie Strauss adds a SPARK  (her newest album) to Chanukah! 

Cantor Steve says: “Abbie possesses an angelic voice and a soul to match”.
Abbie is the Cantorial Soloist at Temple Judea in Palm Beach Gardens, FL and the founder of The Institute of Jewish Rock and Judaism: Inside Out, based on her music philosophy that engages the mind, the body and the soul. Join us for a concert of original music and Chanukah favorites via Zoom.

5th Candle, Monday, December 14th – Lay Leaders Illuminate the Night
7:30 pm  Join us on CBS Facebook Live! for candle lighting with the CBS Board of Trustees

6th Candle, Tuesday, December 15th – Mission Maccabi
6:30 pm  This engaging competition will test your creativity, ingenuity, and resourcefulness as you’re put to the test to create one of the symbols of Chanukah. Join us live for prizes and fun via Zoom or *watch our video demonstration if you can’t make the live program! Wear your favorite Chanukah sweater or pj’s (optional)! The program will  conclude with a communal candle lighting at 7:30 pm. *The video and directions for those not participating through the Zoom will be posted on the Religious School and Youth pages of the CBS website at 9:00 am on Tuesday, December 15th.

7th Candle, Wednesday, December 16th – Illumination from Within: Cultivating the Light of Chanukah in our Hearts
6:45 pm  Join Orot’s Rebecca Minkus-Lieberman for a special session to explore Jewish wisdom and mindfulness teachings that will help us nurture our internal light in celebration of the miracle of Chanukah in our lives via Zoom. The program will conclude with a communal candle lighting at 7:30 pm.
Kick off collection of WARM WINTER WEAR for our local school children in need. 
Drop off NEW gloves, mittens, hats and coats at the CBS main entrance circle drive thru December 30.

8th Candle, Thursday, December 17th – Magic & Miracles!
6:45 pm  Join us for a virtual Chanukah celebration with Magician & Mentalist Jason Silberman. This is a professional LIVE show, including audience participation via Zoom. The program will conclude with a communal candle lighting at 7:30 pm.
