A City Divided: Race, Fear and the Law in Criminal Confrontations

Looking for an inspirational way to spend Thursday night, July 23?

David A. Harris, Semenko Chair and Professor of Law at the University of Pittsburgh’s law school, will describe one terrible incident of police/civilian violence in Pittsburgh, and examine the case’s full journey through the legal system.

Explore not just WHAT happened, but WHY – and why these incidents of violence between police and civilians, particularly black Americans, keep happening all over the country.

Harris devotes his research and writing to the study of police conduct, search and seizure law, and the intersection of race and criminal justice. He is also the creator and host of the Criminal Injustice podcast, a fascinating look at the most difficult problems in the criminal system.
