A Warm Welcome from the Congregation Beth Shalom Family

Congregation Beth Shalom, the spiritual home to more than 1000 member families, is the largest Conservative synagogue in Chicago’s northern suburbs. We are a strong and diverse congregation and think of ourselves as a large family and a place people comfortably call their “home away from home.”

We seek to enrich the lives of our members through ever-evolving ideals of observance, life-long learning, prayer, and acts of justice and loving kindness from one generation to the next. We seek to encourage involvement and create a sense of belonging by serving our community, the Jewish people, and the State of Israel.

We are a congregation whose approach to Judaism takes both tradition and the modern world seriously. We practice a Judaism that is enduring, yet relevant, intellectually and spiritually satisfying, and enjoyable. We believe strongly in the value of lifelong Jewish learning and offer a full array of classes and programs for every age. We are a community of communities and welcome participation in our award-winning Sisterhood, Men’s Club, Religious School, Youth Groups, HAZAK (55 years and older), HUGS (Jewish holiday and Shabbat programs for children and adults with special needs and their families), PRIDE @ CBS, and much more.

We invite you to celebrate Shabbat with us. In addition to our Egalitarian services, we offer many alternatives on a regular basis to give you a different experience for Shabbat including: ShabbaTONE, Services Under the Sky, Shabbat with a Twist, Circle Time Shabbat, Study Minyan, Shabbat Yoga, and more. Families can also join together for dinner and a family-friendly service once a month at our Shabbat B’Yachad service.

Our egalitarian philosophy is reflected in our ritual life as a congregation, as well as in our lay and professional leadership and throughout the full spectrum of opportunities at Beth Shalom. We strive to make our building a joyful and safe place for all to be themselves and through interaction with our leadership and membership come to know the fullness of true equality.

We hope you will join us at Beth Shalom and we invite you to come and actively enjoy all that we have to offer.
