Congregation Beth Shalom has created a Chicago home for a refugee family that arrived from Myanmar on October 31st. We Will be working with RefugeeOne to help this family learn a new language, adjust to a different culure and navigate a new life.
CBS Members Welcoming Family to Chicago on October 31st
There will be a multitude of opportunities for our members to connect with the family, including tutoring the children and enjoying social visits.
After the family is moved into their new home, the true work begins. We will need a group of volunteers to provide weekly support for their first six months. This may include mentoring, touring the city together, navigating public transportation or helping with English lessons.
There are many ways you can get involved.
- Provide a welcome meal
- Become a weekly mentor
- Coordinate refugee programming at CBS
