Overview Congregation Beth Shalom is a vibrant and diverse religious community. Our synagogue provides inspirational worship services, every day of the year. On Shabbat, choose from an array of spritual experiences from our main sanctuary service to our unique "connect 4 Shabbat" alternatives; on Friday night join us for an intimate service to welcome Shabbat in the beautiful Beit Midrash or choose to attend our once-monthly ShabbaTONE service featuring the ShabbaTONE band. We have a daily minyan, morning and evening, which enables our congregants to begin and end their day in community prayer, and to support those in need of saying Kaddish during the mourning period or on the anniversary (Yahrzeit) of a loved one's death. At Beth Shalom, we celebrate the holidays with joy and spirit, from Pizza in the Hut on Sukkot to the controlled and joyful chaos of Simchat Torah. The mirthful mayhem of Purim, featuring dual (full and family-friendly) Megillah readings, a festive meal (seudah) followed by the ever-popular Megillah Mania Purim Spiel, is one of the most anticipated events of every year. And our late night study session, served with a traditional dairy meal, gives all an opporutnity to learn, schmooze and pray as we kick off the festival of Shavuot. There are ample opporutnities for congregants to participate in the religious life of CBS--from polishing the Torah silver before the high holy days to leading daily services and shiva minyan, chanting Torah, ushering--and much more. Our comprehensive bar/bat mitzvah training program uses a combination of classroom studies and individual tutoring to prepare our children for their big day. Using technology, including the internet and digital recordings, our b'nai mitzvah are well-prepared with haftarah, Torah readings and service leadership roles, supplemented with an understanding of mitzvot, tzedakah and text through the "Thee Pillars" program. We invite you to become a more active participant in CBS' rich religious life. You will find warmth and welcome; spirit and joy within the walls of our Beit Midrash and the main Sanctuary. See you soon! |
