2013 Social Action Garden

"Inch by inch,

Row by row,

Gonna make this garden grow.

All it takes is a rake and a hoe,

And a piece of fertile ground".

                           The Garden Song

Fresh vegetables are always greatly needed at the Northfield Food Pantry.  We can make a difference for families in our community by providing fresh produce.  Beth Shalom would like to create a social action vegetable garden in the spring of 2013.  All harvested items will be donated to the Northfield Food Pantry.

The garden will be on the grounds of  Beth Shalom.  It is planned to be in part of  the area of the old preschool playground.

Duties of the volunteers would be to weed and water.  Gardening experience not required!   Gardening is a daily project. The importance of the volunteers is that we need to depend on you on your assigned dates..

We are looking for volunteers who would work: AT LEAST five days during the summer;  for example work every Monday in June or every Tuesday in July..  We need to hear from you now so we can plan a schedule before we break ground.

If you can volunteer to make this garden grow, please contact Jill Olefsky at 847-272-1758 or jolefsky@aol.com.
