Gay & Lesbian Support Group
Suburban Synagogue Continues To Reach Out To Local Gay/Lesbian Community
B'nai Jehoshua Beth Elohim (BJBE), a synagogue located
at 1201 Lake Cook Road, Deerfield, 847-940-7575 opened its doors and its
heart as it became home to the suburbs' newest P-FLAG chapter.
P-FLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) is a
national, non-gay, educational and family support organization whose
main objectives are to heal families, educate society and advocate equal
rights.
Open to persons of all religious backgrounds, this new chapter hopes to
provide the opportunity for families to talk about sexual orientation in
a non-threatening, confidential environment. Meetings have been held
since September, with future meetings to be held on the second Sunday of
each month between 2-4 p.m.
