On Yom Ha-Zikaron, (the Day of Remembrance), the fourth of Iyar, we honor and remember all the soldiers who were killed defending Israel and fought to create a strong, independent homeland for the Jewish people. On Yom Ha-Atzma'ut, (Israel's Independence Day), the fifth of Iyar, we celebrate with parties and parades the founding of the Jewish State of Israel on May 14, 1948.
